What Report Buddy Does
Report Buddy is a Chrome extension that helps ServiceTitan users find and analyze reports. It runs as a side panel in your browser when you’re on the ServiceTitan platform.
What Data We Collect
Report Buddy collects the search queries you type into the “Find Reports” search bar. That’s it. We don’t collect your name, email, ServiceTitan account info, or any data from your reports.
Here’s exactly what gets logged when you search:
- The text of your search query
- A timestamp
- What result the engine returned (template name, confidence score)
- Whether you clicked “Ask AI for a second opinion”
- Whether you gave a thumbs up or thumbs down on a result
- Any written feedback you submit through the feedback form
We do not collect or transmit any data from your ServiceTitan account, your reports, your customers, your invoices, or any business data. The report analysis feature (CSV/Excel uploads) processes everything locally in your browser. Your uploaded files never leave your computer.
Where the Data Goes
Search queries and feedback are sent to a Google Sheets spreadsheet via a Google Apps Script webhook. This data is used to improve Report Buddy’s search accuracy. For example, if a lot of people search for something and get a bad result, we use that to fix the engine.
When you click “Ask AI for a second opinion,” your search query is sent to OpenAI’s API to generate a recommendation. OpenAI’s data usage policies apply to that request. No ServiceTitan business data is included in that request, only the text of your search query.
What We Don’t Collect
- No ServiceTitan login credentials
- No customer data, job data, invoice data, or any business data from your account
- No browsing history outside of ServiceTitan
- No cookies or tracking pixels
- No personally identifiable information
Report Analysis (CSV/Excel Uploads)
When you upload a report CSV or Excel file for analysis, all processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. The file is never uploaded to any server. The benchmarking, scoring, and PDF generation all happen on your machine. Once you close the tab, the data is gone.
Third-Party Services
Report Buddy uses two external services:
- Google Apps Script (for logging search queries and feedback to a spreadsheet)
- OpenAI API (for the “Ask AI” second opinion feature, only when you click the button)
No other third-party services receive data from Report Buddy.
Permissions
Report Buddy requests three Chrome permissions:
- “sidePanel” to display the Report Buddy interface as a side panel
- “activeTab” to detect when you’re on the ServiceTitan reporting page (so the content script can add the Report Buddy button)
- “storage” to save your preferences like dark mode and trade selection
Data Retention
Search query logs are retained in the Google Sheet indefinitely for product improvement purposes. You can request deletion of your data by contacting us.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this policy, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new “last updated” date.
